You may be walking on a treasure! Many owners of older homes in the greater St Louis area are amazed when we peel back their tired, worn carpet to reveal forgotten hardwood flooring. Rarely is this flooring in good shape. Hardwood floor refinishing is our most requested service. Refinishing these hidden treasures is both affordable and allows you to upgrade the appearance of your home. While wood flooring is beautiful, over years it becomes worn, scratched and possibly damaged. Our hardwood floor refinishing service will revive the floors’ original lustre and beauty while increasing both the value and your enjoyment of your home.

Refinishing

After heavy traffic and abuse, the polyurethane layer becomes dull and loses it’s sheen. To restore the shine to your floors, a walk behind buffing machine uses a very thin screen to lightly scuff up what is left of your polyurethane layer to prepare it. Once the layer has been scuffed, new and fresh polyurethane is then added to bring back the luster to your floors. This process can generally be done in 1 day.
Buff and Resealing

There are plenty of people who are well intentioned and try to buy wood and do the hardwood floor installation themselves. The primary goal for most people is to save money. Unfortunately, there are several things that can come up when installing a floor that a novice may miss which can end up costing more money in the long run. Hardwood Floors and More has years experience in wood floor installation and have learned what to avoid and how to do it right.
The process of installing wood floors with either solid wood or engineered wood is basically the same with some minor variations. The primary differences in the installation process depends on the foundation that the flooring is going on. For example, if your home is built on a crawl space or if your home is built on a concrete slab, the installation process will differ. When installing hard wood floors on crawl spaces, it is important to ensure that all of the plywood subfloor is properly prepped to receive the wood. Likewise, when installing hardwood down on a concrete slab, the concrete must also have been prepped with a vapor barrier to keep moisture from getting to the wood.
